Russian sabotage group kills brother and sister in Sumy region

In the morning of January 27, a Russian subversive reconnaissance group shot dead two civilians on the border territory of Sumy region, authorities report.

Russian troops shot a brother and sister from the Khotyn community. Their house is located in the village of Andriivka in the 5-kilometer border zone.

The report did not specify the age of the victims.

Governor Volodymyr Artiukh appealed to residents of the 5-kilometer zone to evacuate. He emphasized that this process has been going on for months and that assistance is being provided at every stage.

According to the regional authorities, at night and in the morning of January 27, Russians fired three times at the border areas and settlements of Sumy region.

Fighting continues in the border areas of Sumy region. Enemy subversive groups also pose a major threat to both the military and civilians.

The command of the Northern Operational Zone conducts regular training of counter-sabotage groups. The situation in this area remains under control.

Enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups attempt to enter the territory of Chernihiv and Sumy regions bordering Russia 9-10 times a month.

The Ukrainian military notes that the goals and objectives of the occupiers depend on the size of the group.

On December 13, a Ukrainian border patrol detected several Russians from a sabotage and reconnaissance group moving to Sumy region. The border guards opened fire on the saboteurs, and a firefight ensued.

On October 12, an enemy subversive reconnaissance group tried to break through the border of Ukraine in Sumy region and get to a critical infrastructure facility. The invaders were repelled and retreated with losses.
