"Ukraine Rising": German publisher releases book about Ukrainian creative industry

The German publishing house Gestalten published the book, Ukraine Rising. The book demonstrates the achievements of 70 Ukrainian creatives in various fields, Rubryka reports.

There are five chapters in the publication, which are devoted to craft productions, visual culture, fashion, industrial design, and architecture.

The selection of participants and projects was reportedly difficult. Still, the team cared to represent as many participants as possible from different industries, even if some were more widely represented than others.

The main goal of Ukraine Rising is to create a publication that would serve as a full-fledged and authoritative guide to the modern culture of Ukraine.

Among the participants of the project are Ukrainian fashion brands: Gunia Project, The Coat by Katya Silchenko, Bevza, Litkovska, KseniaSchnaider, and J'amemme; architectural: Faina, Makhno Studio, loft buro, balbek bureau, and YOD Group; musicians: Alyona Alyona, Kalush Orchestra and Onuka; photographer duo Synchrodogs; artists and graphic artists WAONE, Anhelina Holembivska, Les Panchyshyn and Oleksii Chekal and many other bright representatives of the modern Ukrainian creative community.

The book has already received worldwide distribution and is sold, in particular, in such large chains as Target and Fnac.

The project was implemented with the Ukrainian publisher Lucia Bondar, the author of the idea and editor of Ukraine Rising.

Rubryka reported that Germany is launching a program to support the Ukrainian book market and promote exchange between the Ukrainian and German cultural sectors, for which €900,000 will be allocated.
