Zelensky arrives in Paris to meet Macron and Scholz

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in the capital of France after his visit to Great Britain.

At the Elysee Palace, Zelensky then met with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, according to the video of the meeting made public on Zelensky's Telegram channel.

Emmanuel Macron posted a video of the meeting with Zelensky on Twitter and wrote: "Welcome to Paris, dear friend! Ukraine can count on France."

During a joint press conference, Volodymyr Zelensky said he came to France "to strengthen our continental unity" and thank for the support because "sincerity forms alliances and gratitude cements them."

The Ukrainian president added that Ukraine needs weapons for peace to stop the war unleashed by russia, and France and Germany can potentially change the situation.

"This is exactly how I see our negotiations today. Everything is obvious: the sooner Ukraine will be able to get powerful long-range weapons, the sooner our pilots will be able to get modern jets, the stronger our tank coalition will be, the sooner this aggression of russia will end, and we will return secure peace to Europe," said Zelensky.

After, he added, "Ukraine knows how to be strong and grateful, and our friends know how to be moral and sincere. I believe we will strengthen our defense, sanctions, and political unity today, which is why I am here now."

As The Guardian previously reported, Volodymyr Zelensky flew to Paris after his visit to Great Britain on Wednesday, February 8. The plane carrying the Ukrainian president landed at Orly Airport, where he was met by the Minister of the Armed Forces of France, Sébastien Lecornu.

As the publication reports, Zelensky is scheduled to meet with French President Macron and German Chancellor Scholz in Paris.
