European Parliament members called on Germany to provide Ukraine with Leopard 2 tanks
Members of the European Parliament appealed to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to hand over Leopard 2 tanks and air defense systems to Ukraine.
This is stated in the annual report for 2022 on the implementation of the Common Security and Defense Policy approved on Wednesday, UP writes.
MEPs also called for the immediate deployment of modern weapons and air defense systems in Ukraine.
They emphasize that Ukraine defends its territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders and urgently needs military aid and heavy weapons to win the war.
"The EU and its member states should increase military, political, and humanitarian aid to Ukraine and strengthen their defenses against russian threats to European security. The EU's response to russia's aggressive war against Ukraine is being closely watched by autocracies around the world and will have a significant impact on their behavior in the international arena," the members of the European Parliament warn.

Earlier on Wednesday, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, said he favors providing Ukraine with tanks, including other necessary weapons.
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, also previously spoke in favor of providing tanks to Ukraine.
Last week, Poland expressed readiness to provide Ukraine with Leopard 2 tanks, but in a coalition of partners.
This week, Britain was the first to announce the transfer of its Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine.
