13 civilians injured in Russian rocket attack on Kharkiv

Thirteen people are hospitalized and currently being treated in the northeastern city of Kharkiv following a missile attack by Russian occupation forces on the night of January 17. 

According to the head of the regional military administration, Oleh Syniehubov, Russian forces launched two missile strikes on Kharkiv on the evening of January 16, after 21:42 from the Russian region of Belgorod, Rubryka reports.

The regional leader explained that the Russians used S-300 ground-to-air rockets, damaging the facades of approximately 20 multi-story residential buildings in Kholodnohirskyi city district, the building of a private medical institution, and destroyed 14 cars.

According to Syniehubov, 17 people were affected by the attack: 16 women aged 38 to 90 and a 31-year-old man. Three of them received on-site assistance,  the head of the regional military administration added.

"Of the affected, 13 people are currently in the hospital. Namely, a 43-year-old woman with a severe penetrating wound is in extremely critical condition. Also, a 39-year-old woman is in critical condition. Others are in moderate and mild conditions," said law enforcement.

Rescuers also evacuated 30 people. The consequences of the Russian attack are being eliminated, and site inspections are ongoing.

Night Drone and Missile Attack in Ukraine

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that the Russian troops launched drones from ​​Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Russia. The Russians also struck Kharkiv with two guided anti-aircraft missiles, S-300, from the Belgorod region of Russia.

"The Air Force, in coordination with the Air Defense Forces, destroyed 19 drones. Anti-aircraft missile units and mobile fire groups were involved in repelling the aerial attack," said the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Air defense operated within the territories of the Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kirovohrad regions.

According to the Air Force, the kamikaze drones across the Black Sea were heading toward the Odesa region. The Southern Defense Forces clarified that Russia's primary efforts were concentrated on strikes against Odesa. The kamikaze drones approached at critically low altitudes from the Black Sea.

As a result of the Russian attack, three people were injured: another woman born in 1955 and a girl born in 1995 were injured. Earlier, a 62-year-old man was reported as injured. Medical assistance has been provided. One hundred thirty civilians were evacuated from the damaged building.
