Zelensky meets with Sudanese Sovereign Council chairman on impromptu airport encounter in Ireland

On September 23, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held an unscheduled meeting with Sudan's Sovereign Council Chairman, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, at Shannon International Airport in Western Ireland.

As the Ukrainian leader noted, Ukraine is grateful to Sudan for consistently supporting the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

"We discussed common security challenges, namely the activities of illegal armed groups financed by Russia," the president emphasized.

Zelensky also extended an invitation to support the Grain from Ukraine initiative and join this year's summit.

In addition, according to the words of the head of the Ukrainian state, possible platforms for strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and African countries were considered.

The Ukrainian leader was probably returning to Ukraine after visiting Canada.
