United24 opens fundraising for Ukrainian education and science initiatives
The United24 platform opens a new fundraising direction, attracting money to reconstruct educational institutions.

What is the problem?
Due to the constant threat of Russian missile attacks, about 1.5 million Ukrainian children study remotely.
According to statistics cited by the education minister, more than 3,000 educational institutions in Ukraine have been ruined or completely destroyed by Russian attacks.

The funds needed to restore the education sector are estimated at over $10.6 billion. Of these, $7.8 billion is required to rebuild damaged educational institutions.
What is the solution?
As part of a new direction of education and science, the UNITED24 platform announced the first educational lot — fundraising for the reconstruction of the Buziv Academic Lyceum, which was damaged during hostilities in the Kyiv region.

How does it work?
Currently, part of the 452 students of this lyceum study in the kindergarten building, and the other part studies remotely, Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi said.
"We set a goal of raising $1,250,000 to rebuild the lyceum to provide these children with a high-quality education at their school," Minister Lisovyi said. "By the end of our speech [at UNITED24 summit, dedicated to the first anniversary of the platform launch], we already had a $1 million donation from an anonymous Canadian donor. It's fantastic!"

According to Lisovyi, United24 is an opportunity to unite the whole world around helping the education sector.
"Such things become possible thanks to the daily work of the entire UNITED24 team, all ambassadors of the platform, and [Digital Minister] Mykhailo Fedorov," the minister said. "I am sincerely grateful to the ambassadors of education and science, among whom are three Nobel Prize laureates — biochemist Sir Paul Nurse, psychologist and neurophysiologist May-Britt Moser, and psychologist and neurophysiologist Edvard Moser, as well as Ukrainian-American actress Ivanna Sakhno."

On May 5, the UNITED24 platform marked one year since its launch. During this year, it has raised over $325 million for Ukraine.
