United24 ambassador Mark Hamill has raised over $1.5 mln for drones in four months

American actor and United24 ambassador Mark Hamill, known for his role as Luke Skywalker in 'Star Wars', has raised $1,517,205 for RQ-35 Heidrun drones for the Ukrainian military in four months.
The defense forces will receive 10 reconnaissance drones, Ukraine's digital minister Mykhailo Fedorov said.
What is the problem?
While the Russian army prevails in the number of military equipment, the Ukrainians achieve significant success, using improvised means to destroy the enemy. Ordinary drones, which in usual life are used to shoot weddings and other pleasant events, have become indispensable tools in the war against Russia. Drones are an opportunity to scout, adjust, and strike ahead of time.
However, drones are consumables that need to be constantly replenished.
What is the solution?
"Army of Drones" is a project initiated by the General Staff of the Armed Forces and Ukraine's digital ministry. This is a comprehensive program within which the systematic purchase of drones, their repair, as well as training courses for relevant specialists are planned. The project took its start on July 1.
How does it work?
The RQ-35 Heidrun is an efficient and easy-to-manage UAV for high-quality reconnaissance missions. It can also withstand the means of electronic warfare of the Russians, the minister stated.
The fundraising campaign lasted from mid-January to May 4. Fedorov noted the symbolism in the fact that the campaign was closed on Star Wars Day.
As part of the "Army of Drones" project, state bodies have already contracted more than 3,800 drones worth more than $100 billion. They also trained more than 10 thousand drone operators.
