Zelensky on Stoltenberg's visit: NATO is ready to start "a chapter of ambitious decisions"

The visit of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to Kyiv proves that the alliance is ready for a new chapter in relations with Ukraine.

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this in his post with a video of the meeting with Stoltenberg on the Telegram messaging app.

"This visit of Jens Stoltenberg is the first during a full-scale war — we interpret it as a sign that the Alliance is ready to start a new chapter in relations with Ukraine — a chapter of ambitious decisions," the president emphasized.

As can be seen from the video, Zelensky called on the NATO secretary general to support the Ukrainian peace formula — a plan that lays out ten key points to secure a long-lasting peace and to "make Russian aggression impossible" — in every possible way.

Zelensky said that he and Stoltenberg discussed four main issues during the conversation.

The main issue was "Ramstein," or the Ukraine Defense Contact Group — an alliance of Western partners united to discuss military aid for Ukraine — which will take place on April 21. The decisions that Ukraine expects from its partners are, first of all, armed support.

Zelensky also asked the NATO secretary general to help Ukraine "overcome the restraint of partners in the supply of long-range weapons, modern aviation, artillery, and armored vehicles."

The third question concerned the Vilnius NATO summit, which, according to Zelensky, "could become historic." The president thanked for the invitation to attend the Summit but added that it is vital that Ukraine also receives a corresponding invitation.

The fourth question concerned the guarantee of security for Ukraine and Ukrainians on the way to NATO.

Stoltenberg emphasized that during the year, NATO allies trained tens of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers. Since last February, the alliance members have provided more than 150 billion in support, including 65 billion in military aid.

The secretary-general also welcomed the peace plan of President Volodymyr Zelensky. He spoke about continuing to strengthen the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Secretary-General Stoltenberg stressed Ukraine needed the most powerful capabilities to ensure security.

Rubryka reported that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg arrived in Kyiv for a visit. He was spotted in Mykhailivska Square in the capital's center, where he commemorated the fallen Ukrainian soldiers.
