Ukrainian doctors perform complex heart surgery on 800-gram baby
Kyiv cardiac surgeons operated on the heart of an 800-gram baby born in the Rivne maternity hospital in Ukraine's northwest.
Rivne City Mayor Oleksandr Tretyak reported this on his Telegram social media channel.
According to Tretiak, the capital's doctors arrived at the medical facility with all the necessary equipment to immediately start the operation.
"The operation to close the ductus arteriosus was difficult and required a high level of professionalism and attention from the medical team," the mayor noted. "Thanks to their skill, the baby successfully underwent the operation. Now the kid has every chance for a full life."
He noted that the baby did not have to be transported to another hospital, so time was saved, and additional stress for the child was avoided.
The mayor thanked the capital's doctors and Svitlana Muravska, the head doctor of the Rivne Maternity Hospital.
