Dozens of transferred tanks will not solve problem, when russia has thousands of them, but they motivate Armed Forces — Zelensky

President Volodymyr Zelensky said that supplying Ukraine with dozens of Western tanks against the thousands of tanks that the russian army has will not solve the problem but will help motivate the Ukrainian military.

He said this in an interview with the German TV channel ARD, the OP press service reports.

"When the russian army, which has thousands of tanks, is against us, no country's decision to give us 10-50 tanks solves the problem. They do one important thing — they motivate our soldiers to fight for their own values because they show that the whole world is with you," the President explained.

He also criticized Germany for its readiness to supply weapons only together with other partners, particularly the United States.

"You can't do that — I will give as much as you will. "Let America take a step, and then I will too." This is not Germany's problem with America, and it is not a competition of ambitions. Of course, you can talk for another six months and get into a power play, but people die in our country every day. And you can do without "if," "when," but simply: if you can give Leopard, then give it," Zelensky said.

He said that when the United States provided 20 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles as part of the military aid package to Ukraine, Germany allocated 20 Marder BMPs.

"I was very grateful. But after the statement about the tanks — I will give as much as you give — I have a question: "I mean, could you have given more Marders? "You gave 20 just because the Americans gave 20 Bradleys?" Zelensky said.

Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said, in turn, that he expects a decision on the supply of tanks to Ukraine in the near future. He has already ordered an analysis of the presence of tanks in the Bundeswehr and in industrial warehouses.
