Covid vaccine for children: how to vaccinate a child in Ukraine
In the United States, children receive two vaccinations, but a third of the dose, and in Britain, one full. Rubryka explains whose experience Ukraine follows and why it's not possible to vaccinate a child against coronavirus in all cases.
What is the problem?
About 1,500 children get Covid-19 in Ukraine every day. The myth that the coronavirus is less dangerous for children is becoming more transparent, and with the advent of a new Delta variant, is completely dispelled. This is also indicated by doctors. In particular, Daria Dmytrevska, a family doctor and co-founder of the Medical Leaders NGO told the BBC that the new strain of the virus was much more dangerous for children; the disease was more severe and children were hospitalized.
In addition, children infect adults, their relatives, teachers, for whom covid can be fatal. The danger is that in children, the coronavirus may be asymptomatic. This is evidenced by studies conducted in Israel: in half of the 200,000 children diagnosed with coronavirus, the disease was asymptomatic. It is also added that most patients under the age of 18 were admitted to the hospital for reasons other than coronavirus, and only after testing was covid diagnosed.
