UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said he is shocked that russia has launched a missile strike on Kyiv while he is in the city for talks with President Zelenskyy. And Ukrainians are shocked that the head of the UN still hasn't realized that russia is indifferent to any international bodies and organizations.

According to estimates by the US Department of Defense, since the beginning of the full-scale war, russia has carried out more than 1,900 missile strikes on Ukraine. The Pentagon noted that the vast majority of strikes on Ukraine were inflicted from air bases in Muscovy.

Yesterday, the US House of Representatives supported the law on the land lease and protection of democracy in Ukraine. It must now be signed by Joe Biden. The lease means, first of all, that the United States believes in Ukraine's victory. American analysts believe that the revival of the Lend-Lease is of great historical significance, as in 1941 such an initiative became a decisive factor, which allowed the Allies to defeat the Nazis in World War II.

What Ukraine can get as a result of a land lease and $20 billion in aid:

  • tanks of the third generation M1A2 Abrams
  • US Infantry fighting vehicles M2A3 Bradley
  • self-propelled artillery M109A6 Paladin
  • multiple rocket launchers on the HIMARS wheeled chassis
  • universal launcher/MLRS M270 MLRS
  • mobile Norwegian ADMS NASAMS 2
  • ADMS Patriot
  • multifunctional light fighter jets of the 4th generation F-16 C/D.

The OSCE announced the closure of the monitoring mission in Ukraine. It is noted that this decision was the result of a lack of consensus with russia on extending the mission's mandate. Somehow, this decision doesn't matter. The OSCE has not seen russian aggression in Donbas firsthand since 2014.

Humanitarian corridors

Today it is planned to evacuate civilians from the territory of the Mariupol metallurgical plant Azovstal. This was reported by Reuters, citing a source in the Office of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Details are not disclosed.

Nuclear objects

Missile flights over nuclear power plants in Ukraine could turn into a nuclear accident, IAEA says. This includes the shelling on April 16, when the missile was fired directly over the South Ukraine nuclear power plant. Ukraine officially informed the IAEA on April 28 about this case, when a video surveillance camera filmed a missile flight over this nuclear power plant. The Mission is currently examining the evidence. According to IAEA Director-General Rafal Grossi, if confirmed, the incident "will have extremely serious consequences."

Today, the Security Service of Ukraine detained the russian military from a group that planned to seize the South Ukraine nuclear power plant. The terrorists hid in abandoned buildings near Voznesensk.

Who's coming to Ukraine?

About financial aid, weapons, and volunteer fighters

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said his organization is ready to pay cash aid to Ukrainians; by the end of August, two million people could receive UN payments. Payments will be made in coordination with the Government of Ukraine.

Poland has handed over 200 T-72 tanks to Ukraine, which will equip two tank brigades. In addition to tanks, Ukraine received several dozen infantry fighting vehicles, 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzers, and MLRS Grad.

Spanish sausage was hidden in boxes with grenade launchers that arrived for the Armed Forces from Spain, and a postcard with the caption was added: "I wish you victory! With love, Leticia." It turns out that delicious gifts for our soldiers were given by the Queen of Spain Letizia.

The Polish City Council of Gdańsk named one of the city's squares Heroic Mariupol. The deputies made this decision unanimously. Not far from the square is the building of the Consulate General of russia. Earlier, the mayor of Gdansk promised that the Polish city would help rebuild Mariupol after the war. And the mayor of Mariupol Vadym Boichenko promised that in the restored Mariupol one of the streets will be named in honor of Gdansk.

And the Norwegian Foreign Ministry said that the country would close its borders and ports to russian trucks and ships. However, the restrictions don't apply to the Svalbard archipelago and do not apply to russian fishing vessels, which often land their catches in ports in northern Norway.

What's in russia?

The kremlin is considering a scenario of creating a quasi-formation of "Southern Rus" in the territories temporarily occupied by the occupiers; such a document was developed by the leadership of the United Russia party. At the same time, it doesn't specify in which territories it is planned to "form" "Southern Rus." But it's not difficult to guess that russia will try to seize the southern regions of Ukraine, in particular the Kherson region already occupied by russian troops.

Muscovites said another shelling "by Ukraine." Allegedly, the Armed Forces fired mortars at a border checkpoint in the village of Bila Berizka.

What about russia's minions?

Five countries have advised their citizens to leave Transnistria or not to go there due to the deteriorating security situation in the region. Canada, the United States, Bulgaria, Israel, and Germany see danger for their citizens in Transnistria.

The "power" of the so-called "DPR" and "LPR" is forcing students to donate blood en masse for the wounded occupiers, said Ombudsman Denisova. It has already become known about 700 cases of forced blood donation. This is another violation of the Geneva Convention.

A mustachioed Belarusian cockroach appeared in the information space and immediately thanked the heavens for the dictatorship in his country. Mr. Lukashenko described how neighboring Western countries don't allow their citizens into Belarus so that they do not see how good life is there. In the imaginary world of the Belarusian dictator, Europeans have to go to the republic to buy salt. "You all criticized me: dictatorship, dictatorship. So the order is under this dictatorship. If there was no dictatorship, we would go bare," Lukashenko said.

russian lies

russia's propaganda is trying to increase pressure on the world community. Thus, the "Why did a special operation in Ukraine start?" exhibition opened in Lebanon, which presents photos that tell about the events in Donbas since 2014 in a favorable light for russia.

russian propaganda, citing russian State Duma Speaker Viacheslav Volodin, claims that the Ukrainian authorities are "driving the country into a debt hole" through the Land Lease and that many future generations of Ukrainian citizens will be paying for all ammunition, equipment, and food supplied by the United States. The kremlin's claim is manipulation. After all, under the terms of the land lease program, Ukraine can receive potentially unlimited support from the United States and other countries not only with weapons, ammunition, and equipment but also with medicines, products, and other necessities, all bypassing export controls. Under the terms of the program, used military equipment can be written off, and payment for destroyed equipment will not be charged.

Sanctions on the aggressor!

Berlin is ready to support the EU's initiative to impose an embargo on oil imports from russia, The Wall Street Journal reports. Until now, Germany has been one of the main opponents of sanctions on oil and gas trade with Moscow, but representatives of the Bundestag in the EU institutions have agreed to a full embargo on russian oil, provided that Berlin gets enough time to secure alternative supplies.

Lada cars with automatic transmissions almost ran out in russian showrooms. Deliveries of Japanese Jatco boxes to Lada ended after russia's military invasion of Ukraine and international sanctions against russian companies. And there are no russian automatic boxes for AvtoVAZ cars.

A new platform "Hello, warrior!" has appeared in Ukraine, through which people send letters and photos to our defenders to express their gratitude and support. There are already more than 800 letters on the site, and they continue to arrive. And so that the military themselves can read the letters conveniently, the texts are reproduced in the Telegram channel of the same name. Letters are here: https://www.hihero.org/

Important information for teachers who have temporarily gone abroad. There is information on social media and some mass media that they are obliged to return to Ukraine immediately, in accordance with the Resolution "Some issues of organization of work of employees of public sector economic entities for the period of martial law" approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. This is not true! As the Education Ombudsman Serhii Horbachev explained, "a communally-owned educational institution is not a public sector entity. It is possible to work remotely for a teacher from abroad, it does not require a business trip. The same heads of educational institutions and educational management bodies who demand that teachers return to Ukraine immediately on this basis exceed their authority.

Residents of Demydiv in the Kyiv region flooded the village themselves and thus saved Kyiv from occupation. Now residents are struggling with the effects of severe flooding, but no one regrets it for a moment. "We saved Kyiv!" Demydiv residents say.

Fights for Orikhove are taking place in the Luhansk direction. The occupiers are storming the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Our guys are repelling, but the orcs are shelling the settlements, destroying houses and infrastructure. In total, the invaders fired on the cities of the Luhansk region 10 times in one day.

The russian occupiers are leaving Mariupol and moving towards the Zaporizhzhia region, the Pentagon reports. This was stated at a briefing by a representative of the US Department of Defense. In the villages of the Melitopol district of the Zaporizhzhia region, the occupiers are demanding that entrepreneurs open shops and cafes without Ukrainian goods; instead, they are agitated to trade goods from the annexed Crimea and introduce a "ruble zone."

At night, a missile hit an infrastructure facility in one of the territorial communities of the Shepetivka district in the Khmelnytskyi region. Thanks to the SES, the fire was extinguished. There are no victims, said Serhii Hamalii from Khmelnytsky Regional State Administration.
