In Ukraine, 41% of people assume they may become veterans in the future, while 53% of Ukrainians have the opposite opinion.

These are the results of the nationwide survey "Image of Veterans in Ukrainian Society," presented at the Ukraine-Ukrinform Media Center.

"Today, 41% say that they can become veterans. This does not mean they are ready to go and serve in the army. They allow this opinion because, as we see, the number of respondents who say that the war will be long is also increasing," said the deputy director of the Sociological group "Rating" Liubomyr Mysiv.

53% have the opposite opinion.

Most individuals who discussed the potential of becoming a veteran were residents of western regions, the youngest participants, men, and those with family or friends who have served since 2014.

According to the study, 55% of respondents noted that among their relatives and friends, some took part in military operations on the territory of Ukraine from 2014 to 2021.

In addition, 70% have among their loved ones those who fought or are fighting at the front, starting from February 24, 2022.

Also, 76% of respondents believe that society today respects veterans. 18% of respondents have the opposite opinion.

A survey was carried out by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine as part of the "Ukrainian Veterans Fund" initiative. The Rating Sociological Group provided funding for the research, which took place from March 2 to 5, 2024.

One thousand respondents aged 18 and older were interviewed in all regions except for the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and eastern Ukraine and territories where there was no Ukrainian mobile communication at the time of the survey. Survey method: CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews).

The study's margin of error for representativeness, with a confidence level of 0.95, is only 3.1% or less.
