United to win: Rheinmetall to construct new munitions factory for uninterrupted supply to Ukraine

The German arms concern Rheinmetall will build a new ammunition factory. It is planned to provide the manufactured products to Ukraine.

The general director of the enterprise, Armin Papperger, stated this in an interview with BILD.

Papperger says that many things have changed for the better in the field of military procurement. Over the past year, Rheinmetall received orders, or framework agreements, from the German government totaling more than 10 billion euros — both for the Bundeswehr and for Ukraine. In 2024, this amount will increase to at least 15 billion.

In addition, the general director of the concern denies that the supply is slow.

"The pace is fast: what would have taken ten years in the past is now done in a few months. Now we will build a new munitions factory in Germany in record time to create strategic supply security," said Armin Papperger.

According to BILD, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius also rejected accusations that Germany is too slow in supplying weapons.

In an interview with a German publication, he said he would supply more than 200,000 artillery ammunition. However, Pistorius noted that the German government ultimately depends on the arms industry.

"Industry is working incredibly hard, but it is still in the mode it was before the war. Obviously, it just doesn't work that fast," said the German defense minister.

For reference:

It should be noted that the Federal Antimonopoly Office of Germany allowed Rheinmetall to create a joint venture with Ukraine at the end of September.

It was reported that the company will be based in Kyiv.

Rheinmetall noted that the Kremlin's threats to intensify the bombing of Ukraine will not affect the intentions of the German arms company to build a tank plant in Ukraine.

It was previously reported that the German concern, Rheinmetall, was negotiating the construction of a tank plant in Ukraine.

It is important to note that Rheinmetall is actively helping Ukraine in the war against Russia by supplying ammunition and various equipment. In particular, the concern recently received a new order for artillery shells for Ukraine.

The German defense concern Rheinmetall and the "Ukrainian Defense Industry" officially announced the creation of a joint venture to repair and maintain combat equipment transferred by Germany and other Western partners.
