War-battered city of Irpin finishes reconstruction of local highway

The rebuilt Hostomel Road has been reopened for traffic In Irpin, Kyiv region, Rubryka reports, citing Irpin Mayor Oleksandr Markushev.

What is the problem?

The extensive repair of Gostomel Road began in September 2023, starting from the intersection of Kotliarevskoho and Severinivska Streets to Hostomel. A section of the road was completely closed. The repair was part of the reconstruction of the neighborhood after Russian shelling.

What is the solution?

"Friends, officially — traffic on Hostomel Road is restored. Beautification works are still ongoing, but one of the main exits from the city is already working again," said Markushev.

How does it work?

According to Markushev, temporary markings have been applied to the road, road signs are in place, and sidewalks and a bike lane have been established. Three roundabouts have been set up at the intersections of Hostomel Road and other roads.

Public transport stops have been put in, and roadside drainage systems are in place. The bridge over which the road passes has been updated.

Next year, the final layer of asphalt will be laid on the road. However, Hostomel Road now allows traffic from Hostomel to Irpin, Markushev added.

Irpin's Reconstruction

The reconstruction of the city, devastated by Russian occupiers, is actively ongoing. In November of this year, a new bridge across the Irpin River was opened near the ruins of the old bridge destroyed at the beginning of the full-scale invasion in 2022.

In mid-September, in Irpin, Lyceum No. 3 was officially reopened after a hiatus. The institution had to be restored due to damages caused by Russian occupiers.

Before that, on August 24, the city opened the restored "Ruta" kindergarten, which the Russians destroyed. Lithuania covered all the expenses for its reconstruction.
