Denmark sends tanks and ammunition in $250 mln aid package to Ukraine

The Danish government announced the transfer of a new military aid package worth 3.7 billion kroner to Ukraine, which was formed after a meeting between Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and his Danish counterpart.

Danish DM Troels Lund Poulsen announced a new assistance package on October 26, which is the 13th batch from the state's efforts to help Ukraine.

The new aid package has T-72 tanks, BMP-2, artillery ammunition, drones, small arms, and armored repair and evacuation vehicles. The supply is financed jointly with Germany.

These are equipment and ammunition that are in demand in Ukraine and are crucial for maintaining the combat capability, the press release said.

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen stressed that Ukraine can continue to count on Denmark's unwavering support in the struggle for freedom.

It also sends an important signal to both Ukraine and Russia that we are not losing sight, even though much of the world's attention these days is focused on Israel and Palestine, the Danish diplomat said.

Previously, Ukraine's allies reached an agreement to provide 42 F-16 fighter jets.  Denmark pledged to send 19 aircraft.

In the spring of 2024, Denmark expects to transfer the first F-16 fighters to Ukraine, but this will depend on the training of Ukrainian pilots and technicians.

In the coming months, Denmark and the Czech Republic will transfer infantry fighting vehicles, tanks, heavy weapons, and other types of weapons from factories and warehouses.

Denmark also contributed $14 million to the joint European purchase of 155 mm artillery ammunition for Ukraine.
