The Ministry of Defense has approved the domestic attack FPV KH-S7 drone for use in Ukraine's armed forces.

The Defense Forces of Southern Ukraine reported that on Telegram.

What is the problem?

As you know, the Ukrainian-Russian war has long since turned into a "battle of engineers" coordinate system, into a technological war.

It is too early to say that there is an unmanned aviation industry in Ukraine, but it is developing very rapidly.

What is the solution?

Ukrainian engineers working with the military have created the first FPV assault drone. It's made to strike various moving and stationary ground targets.

"Ukraine has developed an attack FPV drone KH-S7," the Defense Forces reported.

How does it work?

The military said the drone was created last summer by a team of likeminded people, which included both engineers and military personnel who had already been passionate about UAVs as a hobby for years.

It is stated that the FPV drone KH-S7 normally carries a useful weight of 1 kilogram for a distance of 7 km; the power is enough for more, but there are many conditions.

The developers of the domestic UAV say the Ukrainian military used the KH-S7  drones up to 9.5 kilometers away.

The drone's camera provides the operator with a high-quality image and helps to conduct reconnaissance during the mission.

"We mainly emphasize its reliability and power, using only TOP parts and systems. All components here are from the best manufacturers in the world, with whom we have direct contracts. So, our drone is a real "workhorse". The guys at the front, at least, already like it. The best thing is when you receive positive feedback from them. It gives inspiration to work further," says Vadym, a representative of the manufacturer.

He notes that their company got the goahead from the Armed Forces through a fasttrack process.

The manufacturer is currently scaling up the production of KH-S7 FPV drones to meet the existing needs of the Ukrainian military.

The manufacturer's representative also noted that the drone is very easy to control for experienced operators.

For reference:

According to former Minister of Defense Oleksii Reznikov, Ukraine's armed forces already have more than 20 new types of Ukrainian-made drones.

He also said that there is a real boom in the production of drones in Ukraine. In particular, due to the fact that the government managed to simplify procedures for developers and manufacturers of weapons and military equipment.

The Cabinet of Ministers [Ukraine's government – ed.] also allocated 40 billion hryvnias this year for investments in Ukrainian manufacturers of drones.

On July 21, 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution "On the implementation of an experimental project on the production, procurement, and supply of ammunition for unmanned systems and combat units of unmanned systems."

Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov said that Ukraine won't get enough drones until at least ten years after all the temporarily occupied territories get back.
