Russia sets up new base in Crimea for drone attacks on Ukraine

Russian troops deployed another base in occupied Crimea to launch Shahed kamikaze drones over Ukraine.

Joint Coordination Press Center Chief at the Defense Forces of Ukraine's South Nataliia Humeniuk said on the air of the national telethon that the Russians have set up another camp in Crimea where they can afford to place launchers, Rubryka reports.

The new station is designed to make the path of the drones to the target slightly shorter than from the eastern coast of the Sea of Azov that the Russian forces frequently use to attack the Ukrainian port infrastructure.

"They're looking for new tactics to bypass the Ukrainian air defense system," Humeniuk said. "They do not draw conclusions from the sad history when they once deployed similar bases on the Crimean peninsula that are no longer there."

She added that the drones are directed over the Black Sea to hide their movement, route, and sound as much as possible.

"The Russians are using the features of Ukraine's geography to attack our country. They will not get away with it," the spokeswoman said.

Humeniuk also reported that "at least some part of the production" of drones has already been set up in Russia. According to her, this is evidenced by the markings on the drones "that the enemy flaunts."
