Russia shells hospital and homes in Vovchansk, Kharkiv region, killing one civilian

Today, August 20, Russian troops shelled the territory of the medical institution and the private sector in Vovchansk, Kharkiv region. One person was killed, and fires burst out in the city.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported this.

As a result of the shelling, a man born in 1952 died; he received fatal shrapnel wounds.

On the territory of the hospital, the roof and structures of the non-working building caught fire, as well as dry grass near a private residential building with a total area of about a thousand square meters.

At 1:50 p.m., rescuers extinguished the fire.

According to the Regional Military Administration, today, August 20, at approximately 7 a.m., the Russian occupying forces shelled the city of Kupiansk. A civilian man, approximately 40 years old, was seriously injured. Doctors are currently fighting for his life.

In addition, during the past 24 hours, Russians came under shelling of settlements in Bohodukhiv, Kharkiv, Chuhuyiv, Izium and Kupiansk districts.

In the region, private houses, an agricultural enterprise building, a kindergarten, a boarding house, a bakery, a church, warehouses, and commercial buildings of civil enterprises were damaged.

There was also a fire on the territory of the meat processing plant in Kupiansk, and in Kruhliakivka – on the territory of forestry.

As the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration reported, 542 people were evacuated from the Kupiansk community in the Kharkiv region, as it's been subject to daily shelling by the enemy.

"With the heads of the district and city administrations, we separately focused on evacuation processes. In particular, on the importance of educational work among the population and families with children. To date, 542 people have been evacuated, including 144 children. We must protect the civilian population as much as possible from Russian terror", – Sinehubov emphasized.

It should be noted that in the Kharkiv region, the mandatory evacuation of the civilian population was announced in the de-occupied territories of the Kupiansk district.

In the Kharkiv region, the authorities forcibly evacuate two hundred children from the border areas.
