The western Zakarpattia region mined its first salt as part of the development of the Tereblia salt deposit.

Rubryka reports, referring to the Telegram of the head of Zakarpattia regional military administration, Viktor Mykyta.

What is the problem?

Due to hostilities in Donbas, the Artemsil state enterprise, which previously provided 100% of the country's salt needs, had to be stopped. In the spring of 2022, in Soledar, the occupiers destroyed the workshops, equipment, and buildings of Artemsil. For the first time since the Second World War, salt was no longer mined in the Soledar mines. This led to a shortage of salt in the country.

What is the solution?

As the head of the region reported, the Zakarpattia region is preparing to accept the baton of Ukraine's most potent salt producer. The first salt was mined as part of developing the Tereblia salt deposit. Mykyta noted that this event is of great importance for the country's food security and the region's economic development.

How does it work?

The head of the region said that during the coordination meeting on the economic, social, and security situation in the Zakarpattia region under the leadership of President Volodymyr Zelensky, he handed over to the head of state the first salt mined.

"The field in Zakarpattia will be able to provide Ukraine with 100% technical and table salt shortly will be supplied for the maintenance of roads in the winter period and to cover the population's needs," said the head of the region.

We are also talking about the Bushyno salt deposit, which can extract up to 150,000 tons of salt monthly by underground leaching through boreholes from the earth's surface. It can provide 100% of the country's needs.

The southern Odesa region offered a replacement after the Artemsil state-owned enterprise was closed. We are talking about the Izmail deposit and possible mining at the Kuialnyk estuary, which has long ceased.

Rubryka reported that the United24 fundraising platform and Artemsil released a batch of surviving salt from Soledar. The funds went to drones for intelligence.

The batch of 20 tons was divided into 100,000 symbolic packages with illustrations by Artem Husev, "Might. Ukrainian stone." A pack of salt costs 500 hryvnias. Of this amount, 465 hryvnias are funds that will be directed to a flotilla of kamikaze drones for Ukraine's defense intelligence.
