Russian drones attack Ukraine's southern Odesa region

Tonight, June 22, Russian troops attacked the Odesa region in Ukraine's south using kamikaze drones. Air defense forces destroyed three aerial targets, but some drones managed to reach the target.

The spokesperson of the South Operational Command, Natalia Humeniuk, stated this on the air of the telethon, Rubryka reports.

"Three Shahed drones were shot down in the Odesa region, and, unfortunately, there were also hits. We are clarifying the situation. There are no casualties, and there are no critical hits either," said the spokesperson.

On the night of June 22, an air raid alert was announced in Ukraine's capital Kyiv and several regions due to the missile threat.

"Northern, southern, eastern regions — the threat of using ballistic weapons!" the Air Force announced.

Before 1 a.m. on June 22, an air raid was announced in Kyiv. Later, the warning was declared in the central, northern, southern, and eastern regions because of the missile threat.

The Air Force reported that the air raid warning spread to Chernihiv, Sumy, Kyiv, Poltava, Kirovohrad, Kharkiv, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

At 01:59, the air raid was off in Kyiv and the region. Later other areas followed suit after 2 a.m.

Background

In recent weeks, the Russians have been particularly intensively shelling Odesa and the region, using various types of missiles and kamikaze drones.

So, on the night of June 14, the Russian occupiers fired four Kalibr missiles at Odesa. Three of them were shot down by the Ukrainian military, but one fell into the warehouse of one of the retail chains. Four people were killed, and seven others were injured in the Russian attack.

A business center, an educational institution, a residential complex, cafes, and shops were damaged in the center of Odesa. According to preliminary data, six people were injured.

On June 19, the Russian occupiers also struck the region, and Ukraine's air defense forces destroyed all air targets.
