Germany will "urgently" supply Ukraine with 64 missiles for the Patriot air defense systems, according to the German defense minister Boris Pistorius on the sidelines of the meeting with NATO colleagues underway in Brussels.

The supply of missiles to the country attacked by Russia is "a very important sign of continued support for the successful efforts"

The supply of missiles to the country attacked by Russia is a very important sign of continued support for the successful efforts of its Armed Forces in air defense, especially now in this special phase of the war, the official said.

The US, UK, Denmark, and the Netherlands announced hundreds of additional air defense missiles for Ukraine, including to support the nation's counteroffensive against Russia. Shipments that are already underway are expected to be completed within weeks.

Germany earlier handed over to Ukraine a Patriot air defense system to help protect its skies.

On 1 June, upon arriving at the European Political Community summit in Moldova, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for creating a "Patriot coalition." Mark Rutte, the Dutch Prime Minister, supported this initiative.

Raytheon Technologies, a manufacturer of Patriot air defense systems, plans to significantly step up production and transfer additional systems to Ukraine.
