Ukraine is developing the most effective system for countering Iranian Shahed-136 drones.

Natalia Humeniuk, the joint press center chief of the South operational command, said this on the air of the Ukrainian TV.

What is the problem?

Shahed-136 can be used in pairs: one drone is aimed at the radar system, and the second at the artillery system. The stated range of the drone is 2,500 kilometers. These devices are relatively small and fly at a very low altitude, which makes them difficult to detect by air defense systems.

On September 18, russia inflicted severe damage on Ukrainian forces with the help of newly delivered Iranian Shahed-136 drones. Repainted in russian colors and renamed Geran-2, they have been shelling armored and artillery positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the northeast of the Kharkiv region for the past week.

What is the solution?

Ukrainian specialists are studying all samples of downed Iranian Shahed-136 drones, and the most effective countermeasures system is being developed.

How does it work?

"It is a fairly new weapon that we encountered, so all the samples we managed to obtain are being studied by specialists, and the most effective system for countering them is being worked out. In particular, we have examples of effectively shooting down these drones. There is an understanding that they can be shot down at a certain height and with small arms. It is also used quite powerfully," Humeniuk said.

She called on the residents of the territories where hostilities are taking place, in case of a sound similar to a chainsaw or a scooter, to take shelter urgently. After all, it is possible to get injured both from an Iranian drone and the Armed Forces' strikes, which will try to destroy the object.
