Ecologists found a way to record the use of prohibited weapons by russians in places they can’t reach due to active warfare

The data on pollutants that enter the environment as a result of warfare can be collected with a hexacopter.

Each munition explosion causes a number of toxic substances to enter the air. At the same time, legitimate research is needed for accurate studies of the environment and for the preparation of a proper evidence base.

Previously, we repeatedly noted that air pollution should be recorded as soon as possible as pollutants migrate to the soil and water bodies or move by air masses over long distances. Soon this data can be used in court to demand reparations from russians for their crimes. However, as the warfare goes on, it's impossible to record such data.

Ecologists from the NGO "Ecology. Rights. Human" found a solution to the issue. They suggest recording environmental crimes by using a drone with sensors to measure the amount of the most common pollutants.

They chose the Yuneec H520E hexacopter, which can fly for up to 25 minutes at a distance of 3,5 km with a 20-megapixel camera and a set of air pollution sensors. They have already announced a donation campaign for the purchase.

The organization needs UAH 370,000. You can find the donation details here.
