"Our land is on fire": russian invaders set fire to Ukrainian wheat fields

The Ukrainian military reports that the russian army is purposefully destroying agricultural land in Ukraine.

Fires from mass shelling by the russian army in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions are destroying wheat fields. It was reported in several local publications over the past few days. The information was also confirmed by the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council, Mykola Lukashuk, on his Telegram channel.

On July 7, the enemy shelled the territory of the Zaporizhzhia region, resulting in the fields there catching fire. The fire spread to the land of the Velykomykhailivka community in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Almost 20 hectares of wheat were destroyed there.

"The fire was self-extinguished," Lukashuk clarified.

On the same day, the occupiers struck the territory of the village of Novosemenivka, as a result of which 5 hectares of stubble burned down.

At the same time, the Zaporizhzhia.Info Telegram channel reported that russians were burning wheat fields with phosphorus bombs in the Zaporizhzhia region.

"In our region, the russian occupiers illegally use cluster and phosphorous ammunition, prohibited by all international conventions. First, they hit residential neighborhoods, and then burn entire wheat fields," the channel's authors write. Also, the publication reports citing the Ukrainian military that russian troops have begun "targeting and destroying fertile Ukrainian fields."

Subsequently, this message also appeared on the Telegram channel of the Polohy community of the Zaporizhzhia region.

Indeed, Ukraine's 28th separate mechanized brigade named after The Knights of the Winter Campaign published a video of a russian shell falling on a wheat field and footage of burning farmland on its page.

"In addition to blocking ports, stealing and selling grain, the occupier cynically sets farmers' fields on fire," the military commented.
