Biden: United States and EU are working on the construction of temporary granaries for Ukrainian grain exports

The United States is working with European allies to export grain from Ukraine by rail, including building granaries on Ukraine's border

It was announced on Tuesday by US President Joe Biden, reports the EP.

"We are working closely with our European partners to bring 20 million tons of grain stuck in Ukraine to the market to reduce global food prices," he said, adding that grain could not be exported to the Black Sea because it "will be blown up in the water."

"So we are working on a plan to take it through other countries by rail. But Ukraine has the same railway system as russia, where the track width is different from the track in Europe. That is why we will build temporary elevators on Ukraine's border with Poland to transport grain from Ukrainian wagons to granaries for (European) wagons and further into the ocean," Biden added.

As you know, EU governments will consider providing Ukraine with temporary storage facilities for grain to help preserve the harvest and secure future supplies to world markets.

And the German federal government plans to set up a fund to purchase grain containers to speed up grain exports from Ukraine under a naval blockade.

Earlier, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Senik said that during russia's naval blockade, Ukraine established two channels for grain exports – through Poland and Romania, as well as negotiating with the Baltic states.
