Rosatom claims its rights to Zaporizhzhia NPP - Energoatom chair

Rosatom State Holding, which includes several hundred nuclear companies in the invading country, is involved in the seizure of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant

This was stated by the head of Energoatom Petro Kotin on the air of the national telethon UA together, quoted by Rubryka.

"Today a group of civilians arrived at Energodar, among whom we identified the chief engineer of the Rostov NPP and the deputy chief engineer of the Balakovo NPP.

There were eight other people who were trying to take over the leadership of ZNPP. "They were not allowed there, but all these cases show that Rosatom was also involved in the aggression, is practically raiding now, trying to seize and control the nuclear power plant," Kotin said.

He stressed that Energoatom had already prepared an appeal to relevant international organizations, including the IAEA.

Kotin also noted that before the visit of these civilians to the station, another group of people who called themselves representatives of the so-called civil-military administration came.

They declared ZNPP the territory of Russia that belongs to Rosatom's sphere of management.

"These statements are nonsense, but they say so. And our personnel have to work under the barrels of machine gunners. Both the ZNPP site and Energodar have a lot of enemy soldiers and equipment," the head of Energoatom described the situation.

When asked about possible terrorist attacks on the Chornobyl nuclear power plant, Kotin said that there were many nuclear facilities on its territory, which contain radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel.

"Theoretically, anything can be done with this nuclear material. It is currently within the boundaries and structures in which it should be so that it doesn't enter the environment.

But if the invaders want, of course, they can blow it up or something, and it will be spread throughout the territory. Then everything depends on the direction of the wind.

Of course, it is suicide for them, too, if they dare to do so," Kotin said.

Note.

On the night of March 4, ZNPP reactors were in danger due to shelling by the Russian military and fire.

Firefighters were initially barred from fighting the blaze but were later allowed to do so.

In Enerhodar, there are 6 power units, while one exploded at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant in 1986. In total, there are 15 nuclear units in Ukraine.
