The British government announces the allocation of 88 million pounds to Ukraine

The British government has announced the allocation of 88 million pounds to Ukraine to "reduce dependence on Russian energy."

This is stated on the website of the British government.

"The UK is actively involved in defending the rule of law in Ukraine and tackling corruption, steps that have strengthened the country's ability to withstand harmful and anti-democratic influences," it is said in the message.

The allocation of funds was announced by the British government on the day when Prime Minister Boris Johnson is scheduled to visit Kyiv to hold talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy amid escalation by Russia.

"Further Russian invasion will have serious humanitarian consequences, and the United Kingdom continues to encourage Russia to take an active part in negotiations with NATO," the British government said.

To recap, in early December, it was reported that Britain would allocate an additional 1 billion pounds to support Ukraine in the field of investment, trade, and security.
