Business protection office to be established at Interior Ministry - Monastyrsky

The Interior Ministry of Ukraine is planning to create another subdivision at the ministry – the Office of Business Protection, according to Interior Minister Denys Monastyrsky.

"After conducting a functional analysis, we see the need and necessity to create the Office of Business Protection at the Interior Ministry. It will be a formal or possibly informal structure, but the main thing is that it will be managed by several people at the ministry," Monastyrsky said at a meeting with business representatives, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

According to the minister, the people at the ministry responsible for the cases related to business will be First Deputy Interior Minister Yevhen Yenin, adviser to the interior minister, Anton Herashchenko, Head of the National Police Ihor Klymenko, Head of the National Police main investigation department Maksym Tsutskiridze and his deputy Serhiy Panteleyev.

Monastyrsky also said that the Interior Ministry should become a center of support and protection of business in the country.

"The Interior Ministry should become a center of support and protection of business, not a center of bribery and extortion. This is my goal as a minister and this is the goal of my team," Monastyrsky said.

The meeting with the minister was attended by representatives of various companies and business organizations, including Philipp Morris, Nemiroff, SE Ukrspyrt, Jacobs, Saturn, Kyivstar, the European Business Association, the Federation of Employers of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Ukrainian Association Renewable Energy and others.
