Zelensky and US House delegation discuss more air defense and russian sanctions

President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed the transfer of air defense systems to Ukraine in the required amount and strengthened sanctions pressure on russia with the House of Representatives of the US Congress, Mike Turner, James Himes, and Eric Swalwell.

During the meeting with the congress members, as the President's press service reported, Zelensky emphasized that their visit to Ukraine was essential when russia increased its terror against peaceful cities and civilian infrastructure by striking with missiles and Iranian drones.

"This bold step demonstrates strong bicameral and bipartisan support for Ukraine. It confirms that the United States is our strategic partner," the President noted.

Zelensky informed the House of Representatives members about the situation on the front lines and the priority needs of Ukraine's Armed Forces. He praised the support of Congress, the President of the United States, his administration, and the entire American people. At the same time, the head of state called for increasing aid to approach peace.

Zelensky emphasized the importance of transferring air defense systems to Ukraine in the necessary quantity to create an air shield over our country, which should protect the civilian population and critical infrastructure facilities. Such systems would become an essential element of security guarantees for our state.

The meeting participants discussed Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration and security guarantees. The parties agreed that nuclear blackmail by the russian leadership is inadmissible.

The parties exchanged views on strengthening sanctions pressure on the aggressor country, which is of particular importance given the terrorist attacks carried out by russia in recent weeks on the civilian population and civilian objects in our country.

The President also stressed that the world should recognize russia as a terrorist state.

Zelensky emphasized the importance of adequately preparing Ukraine for winter and the need to restore the destroyed energy infrastructure promptly. He expressed hope that the United States would take an active part in Ukraine's reconstruction.

Members of the House of Representatives assured the President of the unwavering support of Ukraine by the United States and emphasized the importance of restoring Ukraine's territorial integrity.

The parties highlighted the results of Ukraine's first lady, Olena Zelenska's July visit to the USA and her speech in Congress. The visit contributed to the spread of information about the crimes of the russian military in Ukraine.
