Ukrainian MFA protests Russian-controlled Crimea delegation visit to Nicaragua
Ukraine's foreign ministry sent an official note of protest to Nicaragua over the visit of a Russian delegation from the occupied Crimea, says spokesperson Oleh Nikolenko.
The visit of the delegation of representatives of the occupation administrations to Nicaragua took place on January 23, 2024.
The delegation arrived to sign trade and economic cooperation agreements, and twinning between Yalta and Granada.
The Foreign Ministry states that such actions by Nicaragua grossly violated the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, its legislation, and the UN Charter.
"The Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol are an integral part of the territory of Ukraine, in relation to which representatives of the Russian occupation administration have no legal personality."
The Presidential Mission in Crimea emphasized that they had sent an official letter to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry asking it to react to the visit.
Previously, Russian proxies from Crimea took part in the meeting of the International Organization of United Cities and Local Authorities in Türkiye. Ukrainian FM has appealed to Türkiye for formal explanations.
