Ukrainian NGO promotes socialization of children through educational projects

Well-known TV presenters held a masterclass for children from a culinary club in the village of Volodarka, Kyiv region.

It became possible thanks to the civic association "Osvitoria," Rubryka reports.

What's the problem?

Schoolchildren from the Kyiv regional lyceum, including those in need of social support, joined the event. Among them are students who moved to Volodarka from temporarily occupied regions and areas of hostilities.

The culinary club in the village in Kyiv region is organized and supported by the civic association "Osvitoria" as part of the "First Profession" project.

What's the solution?

The hosts of "Snidanok z 1+1", Ruslan Senichkin and Liudmyla Barbir, conducted a masterclass for children from the culinary club in Volodarka, Kyiv region, members of the "First Profession" project.

"Osvitoria" collaborates with many educational institutions in Ukraine within the project, opening similar clubs and professional studios for children to acquire skills in applied professions such as culinary arts, tailoring, hairdressing, carpentry, and many others. Additionally, they organize useful activities and workshops for club members outside the school.

"For children facing challenging life circumstances, this is very important, particularly for their future socialization in society and realization of opportunities," said Inna Ivanova, head of the "First Profession" project.

How does it work?

During the culinary masterclass, children learned to prepare healthy vegetable pancakes with cabbage, carrots, celery, and milkshakes. However, the goal of involving students in the culinary masterclass was not just to learn a new recipe. The "Osvitoria" team aimed to help club members gain valuable experience in communicating independently with talented professionals in their field, whom the children had previously only seen online.

"The kids are amazing! I am proud that they are the future generation that will build a modern Ukraine. They were interested and wanted to learn more about the television process and see how everything is arranged from the inside. They asked us a lot of questions. I think they even managed to feel like presenters themselves because they independently managed the process and, most importantly, experimented without fear of making mistakes. It was a very delicious meeting," said Ruslan Senichkin, host of "Snidanok z 1+1".

Inna Ivanova also recalls how a month ago, students from the Kmytiv specialized boarding school (Zhytomyr region), who are involved in the tailoring club within the "First Profession" project, participated in the charitable Christmas "Courage," selling handmade "Good Dolls" and other craft Christmas decorations to guests.

The purpose of the students' participation in the festive fair was not sales. The "Osvitoria" team sought to give the children a "special Christmas gift" — a lesson in socialization in an atmosphere of openness to diversity and inclusivity, which is always present at "Courage."

For students from the culinary club at the Borzniaky lyceum in the Chernihiv region, for orphans, children from large families, and economically disadvantaged backgrounds, a culinary masterclass was conducted by a team led by the famous chef Yevhen Klopotenko.

Background

The "First Profession" project has been operating for over ten years. In 2024, within the framework of the "First Profession" project, 25 clubs are operating in 13 educational institutions in 7 regions of Ukraine.

The 1+1 media team supports the "First Profession" within the charitable project "Make a Dream Come True," which was relaunched in 2023, aiming to tell the stories of children who are bringing our victory closer and to help children whose full-scale war has deprived them of the right to childhood.
