Ukraine introduces sanctions against 147 Russian and foreign citizens
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has enacted the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on the application of personal special economic and other restrictive measures against 147 citizens of the Russia and citizens of other states associated with Kremlin.
The first list includes 60 individuals who are the citizens of the Russia, Ukraine, Cyprus, Belarus, Germany, Uzbekistan, Austria, and Great Britain.
Among them are:
- former Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Volodymyr Syvkovych, who is hiding in Russia;
- Leonid Kharchenko, who is a defendant in the case on the crash of the Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17;
- so-called "Human Rights Commissioner" of the occupation administration of Donetsk region Daria Morozova;
- top managers of the USM Group companies owned by Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov, Nazim Efendiev, Vakhtang Kocharov, and Valery Kazikaev;
- the wife of the ex-head of USM Ivan Streshinsky, Natalya Davydova, as well as the son of Usmanov's wife Irina Wiener, Nathan Wiener.
Ukraine has imposed many levels of sanctions against Russia and Kremlin-linked oligarchs. Even at the beginning of the invasion in 2022, the National Bank banned the circulation of the ruble and closed Russian state-owned banks. Ukrainian courts are constantly confiscating Russian assets.
Back in April, Ukraine called on the world to focus on strengthening the implementation of sanctions against Russia and accelerating the development of mechanisms for confiscating Russian assets to use them to rebuild our country.
Ukraine plans to create a special defense fund that will be replenished with dividends from state defense assets and profits from the sale of Russian confiscated assets.
On November 18, Ukraine adopted a series of sanctions against individuals and legal entities that support Russia.
