US sanctions 130 military-industrial facilities supplying resources to Russia

The US has imposed new sanctions against Russia targeting over 30 individuals and almost 200 legal entities.

The new sanctions are aimed at the Russian military-industrial complex and its supporting structures.

The US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) "continues to disrupt the networks and channels through which Russia is trying to support its beleaguered army". To this end, the US focuses on individuals and entities abetting Russia's unconscionable war against Ukraine by providing Russia with much-needed technology and equipment from third countries.

These actions take aim at Russia's domestic industrial base, which is seeking to reinvent itself as the maintainer of Russia's war machine.

Russia is dependent on willing third-country individuals and entities to resupply its military and perpetuate its heinous war against Ukraine and we will not hesitate in holding them accountable, said Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen.

Our global sanctions coalition has choked off Russia's access to key inputs for its military industrial complex and has undermined the Kremlin's ability to wage its unprovoked war. Today's actions demonstrate our further resolve in continuing to disrupt every link of Russian military supply chain, and target outside actors who would seek to support Russia's war effort.

The US Treasury Department imposed restrictions on dozens of people and companies from Turkey, China and the United Arab Emirates through which Russia imported technologies, equipment and other means necessary to support and maintain its military-industrial complex.

A separate block of fresh sanctions imposed by the US Treasury covers dozens of military-industrial companies in Russia that manufacture, import, sell and repair industrial equipment, machine tools, spare parts and machinery for Russian companies.

The US has expanded sanctions against the Russian technology and banking sectors involved in financing, research, development and import of advanced technologies.

The sanctions targeted Russian state-owned joint-stock financial corporation (Sistema), one of the largest Russian holding companies operating in the defence, financial and technology sectors, and its subsidiaries.

The US has imposed about 100 sanctions separately, targeting Russia's future energy production and revenues, the metallurgical and mining sector, defense procurement, and those involved in supporting the Russian government's military efforts and other malicious activities.

The US imposed sanctions against the organisers of the transportation of Russian oil sold above the ceiling of $60 per barrel. All their property in the US was blocked.
