War-blighted city of Irpin has restored 1,000 buildings damaged by Russian forces

Almost a thousand buildings damaged due to the Russian aggression in Irpin, Kyiv region, have been fully and partially restored with their functional purpose preserved.

The Kyiv Regional Military Administration announced this on the Telegram messaging app, Rubryka reports.

What is the problem?

During the hostilities in the spring of 2022, Irpin was destroyed by 75 percent. More than 10,000 people were left homeless. In the city, 37 multi-apartment buildings were declared unfit for habitation.

In Irpin, at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Russian invaders damaged more than 3,300 buildings. Among them, more than 3,100 are housing stock.

What is the solution?

Reconstruction of the damaged infrastructure is underway in Irpin. Almost a thousand buildings damaged due to Russian aggression in Irpin, Kyiv region, have been fully and partially restored with preservation of their functional purpose.

How does it work?

"Reconstruction of damaged buildings in the city continues. Repair work was completed in October 2022 in the building at 2 Natana Rybaka St. Windows and entrance doors were replaced at the expense of the reserve fund. One hundred twelve12 people live in the building, including 16 children," the statement emphasizes.

Also, at the end of 2022, the apartment building on Natana Rybaka Street, 25 V/2, was restored. Two hundred six people live there, 54 of them are children.

New windows and doors were installed in the building using money from the reserve fund. The given financial aid was used to buy materials to fix the exterior of the building. Additionally, the regional head mentioned that the comprehensive restoration plan includes major repairs for 31 private homes. This will involve changing windows, doors, fences, and roofs and improving the insulation in the building exteriors.

"We plan to dismantle and build 30 low-rise residential buildings. Contracts for the design of 16 objects have already been signed," Kravchenko added. "The area of houses is from 70 to 180 square meters. Project decisions have already been agreed with a number of residents. We continue to negotiate with the owners of 14 households." 

More than 12,500 buildings in the Kyiv region that were damaged due to Russian aggression have already been restored.

In the village of Fasova, Kyiv region, the Best Friends animal shelter, destroyed by Russian shelling, was completely restored.
