DonorUA and the educational platform Prometheus are launching a free online video course dedicated to blood donation.

The project aims to talk about the importance of donation in an accessible way, debunk common myths and attract as many new donors as possible to save military and civilian lives, Rubryka reports.

What is the problem?

With the beginning of Russia's full-scale war in Ukraine, the need for donor blood increased by 60%. But even before that, 2/3 of patients who needed a transfusion did not receive blood on time or at all.

What is the solution?

The goal of the course, as well as the activities of DonorUA, is to create a culture of donation where people donate blood simply because they have the opportunity and not only when someone is in trouble.

The course "Blood Donation: Why Is It Important and How to Become a Donor?" is the most complete and accessible guide containing everything potential donors should know.

How does it work?

During training, participants will learn how donation has a positive effect on the body, who your blood can help, how to maintain a healthy lifestyle to help others, how to prepare for donating blood if there are any contraindications for donation, and what the myths and prejudices about donation are.

The course was created for all concerned Ukrainians who just thinking about donating, have never been a donor but are interested in the topic, donated blood several times for a specific request but would like to know more about it, donate blood constantly, but seek to raise their level of awareness.

The course is held with the support of the US Embassy in Ukraine. The views of the course authors do not necessarily coincide with the official position of the US government.

The course "Blood Donation: Why Is It Important and How to Become a Donor?" is free and always available. Registration is via the link.
