Russian forces return to positions left after Kakhovka dam explosion — Ukraine's Southern Forces Group

Russian forces breach through mined lands, left during the Kakhovka dam explosions, returning to former positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River, according to the Southern Forces Group spokesperson Natalia Humeniuk.

This is another attempt to resist Ukraine's offensive on the left bank of the Kherson region, which slowly advances near the destroyed Antoniv bridge.

The water has receded enough, so Russian troops are returning. But this move is complicated thanks to their own mining. The landmines are laying spontaneously as after the water influenced their minefields, said the representative of the press center.

The spokesperson noted that the Russians are returning to their positions "very reluctantly" due to the difficult humanitarian situation.

They continue to suffer from intestinal infections, and some doctors diagnose it as cholera, emphasized Humeniuk.

Russian troops fired 59 times at the Kherson region on July 8. Previously, the enemy launched four guided aerial bombs at Kozatske and Vesele in the Kherson region. Residential buildings and a production facility were damaged.

As Ukraine's counteroffensive goes on,  Ukrainian forces are advancing in the Bakhmut front in the Donetsk region.

Over the past day, southern Ukraine's forces eliminated 37 occupiers, one Buk air defense system, an EW station, two boats, and two large-caliber guns that the enemy used to fire at Kherson.
