Slovakia pledges to send 16 Zuzana howitzers to Ukraine – President Čaputová

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Slovakia to meet with the president and prime minister to discuss the Peace Formula, Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration, and other issues.

Slovakia has already approved a contract to produce Zuzana artillery systems for Ukraine and pledges to send another 16 howitzers, Zelensky said.

We have signed a contract for the supply of 16 Zuzanas [artillery systems – ed.] to Ukraine and this will happen in the very near future. We will jointly develop a new type of howitzer. Joint production of ammunition will begin, Čaputová said.

She added that Slovakia and Ukraine planned to jointly develop a new type of howitzer and start joint production of Zuzana ammunition and the Bozena demining system. The state will also support mine clearance efforts in Ukraine.

In January, Slovakia sent the last of the eight Zuzana 2 self-propelled artillery pieces purchased by Ukraine.
