Russian soldiers refuse to fight and damage their weapons on Zaporizhzhia front – Ukraine's General Staff

About 50 ethnic Dagestanis in the Zaporizhzhia region refused to fight in the Russian army's ranks and damaged the occupiers' weapons.

The General Staff of Ukraine's armed forces reported this.

"Amid the successful military operations conducted by the Defence Forces of Ukraine, which have resulted in significant losses of the enemy's personnel, cases of desertion from units of the Russian occupying forces have been on the rise, with more and more personnel voluntarily abandoning their combat positions," the military command reported.

The General Staff explained that about 50 ethnic Dagestani servicemen from the Caspian flotilla in the area of the village of Dorozhnianka, Zaporizhzhia region, refused to participate in hostilities.

In addition, the weapons that were available in the unit were damaged by the Russian deserters.

Also, according to the General Staff, the Russian occupiers continue to use the civilian population as "human shields." In particular, in the village of Topolivka in the Kherson region, the Russian military command settles its service members in private houses inhabited by civilians.
