Over the past few weeks, 345 tons of energy equipment arrived in Ukraine from the Netherlands, Poland, Finland, Norway, and Sweden, says the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

What is the problem?

The Ukrenergo energy operator reported that in May 2023, after the season of massive attacks on the Ukrainian power system, the losses of installed capacity increased to 27 GW.

How does it work?

The equipment was handed over to energy companies to restore and repair the damaged to destroyed objects after the Russian attacks.

The humanitarian cargo from Poland, weighing about 20 tons, contained three stationary Carteppillar diesel generators with accessories. They have already been transferred for the needs of the Kyivteploenergo company.

The Kharkivgaz gas operator received 12 tons of aid provided by Finland, Norway, and Poland, including generators with 40 kW to 70 kW, overalls, and hand power tools.

The Donbasenergo operator received components for disconnectors with a total weight of about 20 tons, which were provided to Ukraine by Sweden.

Ukraine received significant aid from the Netherlands. In recent weeks, 16 shipments of electrical cable and power transformers weighing more than 293 tons have arrived from this country. Among the equipment provided are current and voltage transformers, circuit breakers, disconnectors, grounding devices, fittings for overhead lines, and other materials necessary for repair work.

Since March 2022, Ukraine has received more than 8,000 tons of humanitarian equipment from 31 countries.

Ukraine is also preparing for possible strikes on power plants in the fall since the Russians continue to produce missiles, and their previous campaign to destroy the Ukrainian energy industry did not achieve its goal.

We also reported that the new UNDP report indicates the continued vulnerability of the Ukrainian energy sector.
