On Wednesday, April 26, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, had his first phone conversation with the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, since Russia's full-fledged invasion began last year.

Rubryka reports, citing the Ukrainian president's Twitter statement, that Zelensky described the conversation as lengthy and meaningful, citing the appointment of an ambassador to China as a positive step towards improving bilateral relations between the two countries.

"I had a long and meaningful phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping. I believe that this call, as well as the appointment of Ukraine's ambassador to China, will give a powerful impetus to the development of our bilateral relations," Zelensky wrote.

In March, Chinese leader Jinping made an official visit to Moscow and held a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Prior to his visit to the aggressor country Russia, there were reports that Jinping might also have talks with the President of Ukraine.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Volodymyr Zelensky said that he had not been in contact with the Chinese leader since the beginning of Russia's invasion of Russia, and he would like Xi Jinping to visit Ukraine.
