Two DOK-ING MV-4 and DOK-ING MV-10 mechanized mine clearance complexes manufactured in Croatia were provided to the Kherson region.

Oleksandr Prokudin,  head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, announced this on Telegram.

What is the problem?

Ukraine's PM Denys Shmyhal reported that due to russian aggression, Ukraine is currently among the most polluted by mines and projectiles countries in the world.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine emphasized that approximately 30% of the territory of Ukraine (about 180 thousand km²) was mined due to the russian invasion – this is more than two territories of Austria or five territories of Moldova.

In particular, about 7,000 square kilometers are subject to demining in the de-occupied territories of the Kherson region.

What is the solution?

The Prime Minister noted that humanitarian demining is the first stage of restoration of the de-occupied territories.

Complete humanitarian demining of Ukraine will take from 5 to 10 years. In contrast to operational and combat demining, humanitarian demining involves a comprehensive review of the entire territory where hostilities occurred.

How does it work?

According to Prokudin, these complexes are one of the best robotic demining systems in the world. They can demine territories with a productivity of up to 4-5 square kilometers per day, depending on the complexity of the tasks.

"The functionality of these complexes is fantastic, but their main advantage is that they will save the lives of sappers," the head of the region emphasized.

Explosive objects

Rescuers warn that unexploded shells may be in abandoned houses, in the open air, forests, fields, roadsides, and playgrounds.

For reference:

As Rubryka wrote, the priority demining of agricultural lands began in the Mykolaiv region. Significant forces from the engineering and sapper units of the Armed Forces, pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service, and foreign operators were brought to the region.
