China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that the country is not considering transferring weapons to russia for use in a full-scale war against Ukraine.

"The United States and other NATO countries are now constantly spreading that China may provide weapons to russia, which is a ploy that was used and busted at the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin at a press briefing, CNN reports.

His comments come after NATO's Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg  said the alliance is "increasingly concerned that China might be planning lethal support for russia's war."

In a speech on Wednesday, the spokesperson said China is calling on NATO to "stop smearing China with unfounded speculations on Ukraine, abandon the old Cold War mentality of zero-sum game and bloc confrontation, and stop the fomenting confrontation."

Wang also said that the US and other NATO countries are "the largest source of weapons to the battlefield of Ukraine."

Earlier, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned China of severe consequences in case of arms transfer to russia.

The head of the European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, also said that China would cross a "red line" if it provided weapons to the aggressor country.

Meanwhile, according to the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, if China unites with russia, a world war may begin.
