The russian federation committed crimes against humanity during its war in Ukraine.

The US Vice President Kamala Harris stated this at the Munich Security Conference.

"Their actions are an assault on our common values, an attack on our common humanity", the US representative stressed.

"The United States have  formally determined that Russia has committed crimes against humanity", Harris noted.

"And I'm saying this to all perpetrators and to their superiors, that you will be held to account", she added.

In her speech, Harris mentioned specific examples that can be used as evidence of Russia's crimes against humanity.

"russian troops are carrying out large-scale and systematic attacks on the civilian population – horrific murders, torture, rape and deportation. Executions like killings, beatings and electrocution", the US representative said.

"russian authorities forcibly deported hundreds of thousands of people from Ukraine to russia, including children. They brutally separated children from their families", Harris added.

The US vice president promised that the United States "will continue to support the legal process" to bring the russian federation to justice.

Previously it was reported that Ukraine, together with its allies and partners, developed three models for establishing and working a special tribunal regarding the crime of Russian aggression.

At the end of January, representatives of 20 countries gathered in Prague for a group meeting on creating such a special tribunal.
