kremlin head and Turkey’s president discussed path to peace, exchange of prisoners, and grain

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan once again repeated his offer to mediate between Ukraine and the russian federation to end the war.

This was discussed during a telephone conversation with the president of russia, vladimir putin, on Monday, the office of the President of Turkey informed, EP writes.

Erdogan said Ankara was ready to facilitate and mediate to ensure long-term peace between russia and Ukraine.

In addition, according to the Turkish side, Erdogan and putin discussed the "grain corridor" and ammonia supplies, as well as a project to send russian grain to African countries after it is ground into flour in Turkey.

The kremlin said that putin discussed with Erdogan the exchange of prisoners with Ukraine, the implementation of the grain agreement, the supply of russian gas, and the creation of a gas hub. In addition, putin accused Ukraine of intensifying hostilities and "hypocrisy" by refusing the so-called "Christmas truce."

Last week, Turkish Ombudsmen Şeref Malkoç

told reporters that he had asked Erdogan to support the creation of a humanitarian corridor between russia and Ukraine. He said the Turkish president welcomed the request.

According to Malkoç, Erdogan should have discussed this issue in conversations with putin and Zelensky.
