The United States has imposed sanctions on Russia's ALROSA, the world's largest diamond miner
The US Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on russia's state-owned company, the world's largest diamond miner, ALROSA, and russia's United Shipbuilding Corporation.
According to the EP, this is stated in a statement on the website of the US Treasury Department.
"Today, the US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctioned ALROSA, a Russian state-owned enterprise and the world's largest diamond mining company, which is also responsible for 90 percent of Russia's diamond production capacity," the statement said.
The State Department also changed the sanctioning status of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, as well as its subsidiaries and board members.
USC is a russian state enterprise that designs and builds most of the russian army's warships, probably many of those used to bomb Ukrainian cities and harm Ukrainian citizens.
"Because of these sanctions, the Treasury is suspending additional sources of support and revenue for the government of the Russian federation to wage an unprovoked war against Ukraine," the US Treasury Department said.
