US intelligence confirms the withdrawal of a significant part of Russian troops from Kyiv, the media report

After Russia announced on Tuesday its decision to "sharply reduce hostilities" in Kyiv and Chernihiv, the United States is already observing the withdrawal of Russian troops

CNN reported this, citing two senior US officials.

According to CNN sources, Russia is beginning to withdraw some forces, including Russian battalion tactical groups (BTG), which are leaving the surrounding areas around the Ukrainian capital.

Russian troops are now retreating in some areas in northern Ukraine, presumably to concentrate forces in the south and east.

US intelligence doesn't rule out that such a retreat may be accompanied by air bombardments and artillery attacks on Kyiv.

At the same time, CNN warns that Russia can always change its retreat by trying another offensive, of course, if it has the strength; during the war, the Russian army lost more than 17,000 troops, hundreds of tanks, more than 100 aircraft and thousands of other equipment.

"In the opinion of the United States, this is not a short-term maneuver for regrouping, but a long-term step, as Russia's offensive in Ukraine's territories from the north failed," CNN reports.

One of the sources of the publication said that the United States was currently concerned about maintaining unanimity with the EU on sanctions pressure on Russia. Washington fears that some Western countries may put pressure on Ukraine for Kyiv to agree to a peace agreement (perhaps not so acceptable to Ukraine).

It should be noted that the movement of columns of Russian military equipment from the Ukrainian border to the rear was noticed in Belarus, which may mean that the Russians are retreating.
