Zelenskyy signs a draft law on increased punishment for treason and looting in Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed laws to increase responsibility for treason and looting.

This was reported in the press service of the Verkhovna Rada.

Data from the card of documents show that law №7116 was returned with the signature of the president on March 4. According to him, the responsibility for crimes against the foundations of Ukraine's national security under martial law is growing.

Now, for treason or sabotage under martial law, one is threatened by 15 years in prison to life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Also signed by the President, he returned the law on strengthening criminal liability for looting №7124. Yes, looting as a war crime will be punishable by 3 to 10 years in prison. Taking any items, weapons, or equipment off the battlefield will also be considered a war crime.
