The United States gives green light to NATO countries to supply fighter jets to Ukraine

The United States gave permission to NATO members if they decided to provide fighter planes to Ukraine, a day after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked members of Congress to provide them during a video conference.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced this on the American news program Face the Nation.

"It's getting the green light," Blinken said when asked if the Polish government, which is a member of NATO, could send fighters to Ukraine.

"In fact, we are talking with our Polish friends right now about what we might be able to do to back-fill their needs if, in fact, choose to provide these fighters to the Ukrainians. What can we do? How can we help make sure they get something to backfill the planes they're handing over to Ukrainians?" Blinken said.
